Sunday, May 25, Community Swimming Pools Opening Day. Start off your summer swimming season by getting your season pool pass and coming out to Wm. Welch & Park Forest Community Pools. Pool operating schedules available HERE.
CRPR Summer Day Camps - Come to KIDVenture Camp this summer and see what all the talk is about. New faces, new adventures await. Millbrook Marsh Nature Center also offers a fabulous Canoe Camp for youth this summer. Finally, CRPR is teaming up with Titan Fitness to offer a Martial Arts & Culture camp for youth ages 5 up.

The Pleasures of Oil Painting Outdoors - Sr. Center Program For intermediate-level students who want to paint outdoors. This class offers instruction in the use of oil paints that are water-soluble (for easier cleanup & no turpentine smell). Depending upon weather conditions, some classes may be held inside the Senior Center. Instructor: Anna Sahr Thursdays, May 1-June 19, 1-4 PM Fee: $50R / $75N.
Fri., May 2
State College Badminton Club. Come join the fun playing the fastest game on earth every Friday evening from 7-10 PM at the Easterly Parkway Elementary gym. Call 237-2220 for more information.
Healthy Steps in Motion Exercise Program This low impact exercise will work on improving balance, flexibility, strength and reduce the risk of falling and can be done in a chair or standing. Participants will use hand-held weights and exercise bands, which will be provided. Mondays & Fridays, 10:15- 11:15 AM. FREE!
Silver Spurs Line Dancers dance at the Centre Region Senior Center’s dance room at 10:50 AM. FREE for everyone who enjoys dancing and socializing.
Senior Center Social Card Games & Mah Jongg. Players needed for friendly card games and games of Mah Jongg - No partners needed. 10 AM at the Senior Center. Meet new friends and join in on the fun. FREE!

Hershey’s Youth Track Meet - Local Level. CRPR is hosting a local track meet at 6PM at the State College Area High School South Track in conjunction with Hershey’s North American Track & Field Youth Program. Children ages 9-14 will compete in various track and field events. FREE. Check out the CRPR website for more information at www.crpr.org.

Mon., May 5
Start Smart Basketball Program Begins Start Smart Basketball teaches children (ages 3-5) the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with a parent. The program focuses on teaching children and parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Mondays, May 5 - June 9; Spring Creek Park; 6-6:45 PM. Fee: $30R / $45N.
Duplicate Bridge. A great way to spend the morning. No partner required, but call the Senior Center in advance to reserve a seat. 9 AM - Noon. FREE!!!

Centre Region Senior Social Club. This active group of adults, ages 55 +, meet for activities, trips, and programs on Tuesdays from 10 AM - 1 PM.
Seniors Hiking Group meets at 9 AM. Enjoy a moderate hike in the great outdoors. Call 231-3076 for more info about this FREE program.

Start Smart Golf Program Begins Start Smart Golf is a developmentally appropriate introductory golf program for children ages 5-7 years old. It is a parent participation program for young children who have never played golf. Start Smart Golf teaches parents how to introduce their child to golf using fun and age appropriate equipment from SNAG. Wednesdays, May 7 - June 11; Spring Creek Park; 6-6:45 PM. Fee: $30R / $45N.
Start Smart Football Program Begins Start Smart Football teaches children ages 5-7 the basic motor skills necessary to play organized flag football. Parent participation is required to work one on one with your child while spending quality time together. Participants will work on skills such as catching, throwing, kicking/punting, and running agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Wednesdays, May 2 - June 6; Spring Creek Park; 6-7PM. Fee: $28R / $42N. Wednesdays, May 7 - June 11; Spring Creek Park; 6-6:45 PM. Fee: $30R / $45N.
Sr. Center Walking Adventures - Location To Be Announced Get to know the local parks and pleasant neighborhoods in and around the State College area with information from the program, and your own 2 feet. Bird of Prey Show at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center. Enjoy this great opportunity to see birds of prey from Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center up close. SCEC staff will provide this 1 hour program about birds of prey that live in the marsh, what makes them special, and more! Held in the nature center barn, rain or shine. Advance Registration is required. Adults & children welcome. Fee: $5R / $7.50N

Romantic Moonlight Walk at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center Bring the one you love to Millbrook Marsh Nature Center for a romantic moonlight walk on the marsh boardwalk. Stroll hand in hand, stop under the "kissing tree", make a wish at the wishing well, dance at the pavilion, and more. Walk opens at 8:30 PM and closes at 10:30 PM. This event is NOT appropriate for children and will be cancelled in case of bad weather. For more info contact CRPR at 231-3071.

State College Area Municipal Band Mother’s Day Concert will be held at 3 PM at the State College Area High School South Building Auditorium. This FREE concert is open to all music lovers with donations gladly accepted at the door.

"Home Ownership: Make it a Benefit not a Burden" Get good advice from the professionals on the following topics: planning for home maintenance, preventing problems, obstacles to staying in your home, safety issues, costs verses benefits, maintaining the investment value of your home and the emotional decisions. Presenters: Gill Morrison, owner of Morrison Construction, a company specializing in design, construction and maintenance of existing homes. Lyn Jackson has been a commercial and residential realtor for many years and is a presenter for the state health insurance program on assisted living. Thurs., May 15, 1:00 - 2:30 PM. Fee: $5R / $8N. Pool Pass Photo Day. Beat the Opening Day lines and get your season pass photo taken or purchase your pass for the summer and have your photo taken while you are there! Rain or shine at either Wm. Welch or Park Forest Community Pools from 10 AM to 2 PM. (Only the pool offices will be open)

PEPSI & MLB "Pitch, Hit, & Run" Competition. CRPR is sponsoring a competition on the local level to be held at Spring Creek Park at 3PM. PITCH, HIT, & RUN is a free national program that gives boys and girls ages 7 - 14 the chance to showcase their baseball abilities. There is no registration fee. Boys & girls compete together in 4 different age groups: 7-8, 9 -10, 11-12, 13-14. Age is determined as of July 17, 2008 and a birth certificate is needed for age verification.
