In May 2006 the band performed at the National Convention of the Association of Concert Bands.  Held in Williamsport, attendees came from as far as California.  Being selected by audition (programs and CDs) as one of only five bands from the entire mid-atlantic area chosen to perform was a distinct honor for the State College Area Band, and undoubtedly the highlight of the band's 30-year history.  Dr. Ned Deihl, conductor, challenged the band with a difficult program, and their performance was greeted with a standing ovation. Professionally-recorded CDs of that performance are available by e-mail -- ncd2@psu.edu -- and at the Band's concerts.   Submitted by Dr. Ned C. Deihl, Conductor SCAMB
