We received many compliments regarding the nature center group and public programs. Group
programs continued this Fall until the week before Thanksgiving, which is the longest program-span to
date at MMNC. My hope is that soon our Fall season will be as filled as the Spring season.

Adult Fitness continued to be our most popular programs. The Flag Football League expanded to
double the number of teams for 2004. The youth wrestling program continued to grow under the
partnership with Ken Chertow. Unfortunately, the long-running “Coed Youth Soccer League” was
withdrawn due to insufficient registrations. . .we had fewer than 60 youngsters sign up, which was too
few for league play. Staff will be implementing new sport programs for 2005.
Jeff R. Hall, Recreation Supervisor - Fitness & Sports
Gymnastics: Since there were 5 instructors we were able to open up the classes for more participants.
The name of Gym Bears was changed to Tumble Tots to emphasize more tumbling skills compared to
gymnastics skills. Tumbling is more appropriate for this age group and helps the program be a feeder
class for the other two programs.

Dance classes: The Beginning Ballroom class and the Square Dancing classes were the only classes which took new members in the Fall. Carter and Ruby Ackerman handle all of the class instruction and while CRPR takes care of the publicity and facility requests. This remains a positive relationship for both groups.
Municipal Band Concert on Veteran's Day: The SCAMB performed a wonderful "American Salute" for their 2005 Veteran's Day Concert. Flyers were provided to area retirement communities and homes. The attendance numbers seem to be consistent and the band is happy with the turnout.
Halloween Parade: This year’s parade was the largest yet. The estimated count was over 1,800 and the atmosphere at the event was wonderful. I received a great amount of help from PSU student volunteers and the SC. Lions Club. This year was the first to have the parade taped for coverage on C-NET, and the costs for the video production were paid by a grant from the Centre County Community Foundation.
Dark in the Park: For the first year, we (CRPR & Schlow Memorial Library) had a rain location for
the event and we needed it. The event was held at Easterly Parkway Elem. All-Purpose room. We were
afraid that the change in location would hurt the turnout, but it did not. The attendance was about the
same as the previous year, when it was held outside. Word of mouth and publicity definitely helped.
Beth C. Lee, Recreation Supervisor - Programs & Special Events.

types (visits, participants, groups, etc.).
