"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today!"
Thanks to your support, this program has been
very successful . . . since the Remembrance Tree program started
in 1994, funds have been provided for 312
trees in the municipal parks
(as of 18 Jul 08).

It's easy to join this award-winning program... Centre Region residents are invited to mark a personal milestone this year with a living reminder...a shade tree in a local park. Donors may choose their trees from lists created for each park. The Remembrance Tree Program is a joint effort by the Centre Region Parks and Recreation Department and five Centre Region municipalities including the Borough of State College, and the Townships of College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton. Please click here or call CRPR for a free brochure (231-3071).

The ordering deadline for the upcoming planting period (Fall 2008) is 15 Sep 08. The donation period for the Spring 2008 planting season ended on 15 Feb 08.
The donation
amounts are:
Category 1: $240 to purchase and
plant a tree with a 1.5" caliper.
Category 2: $350 to purchase and plant a tree with
a 2.5" caliper.
Please note that certain species and sizes, if specified
by the donor, will increase the donation amount based upon
the increased purchase price from the commercial nursery.
Oaks, willows, redbuds,
and planetrees are "fall planting hazards," and
will therefore only be planted in the Spring. Hemlocks and
ash will not be planted due to the threat of disease and
pests. Donate funds for your Remembrance Tree now! |
Donors may choose their trees
from lists created for each park. Each tree requires a donation
of $240 or $350 depending on the size. Specific types of trees
have been selected for each site, and include conifers (evergreens)
as well as deciduous (broadleaf) trees. The Remembrance Tree
Program is a joint effort by the Centre Region Parks & Recreation
Agency and five Centre Region municipalities including the
Borough of State College, and the Townships of College, Ferguson,
Harris and Patton.
The donation will be noted in the CRPR Remembrance Tree Roster on the CRPR website. The donor will receive a gift acknowledgment and a Remembrance Tree Program Certificate. The gift will also be listed in the Gifts-For-Parks section of the next issue of the CRPR Leisure Guide. A temporary donor tag will be placed in the tree, but the longevity of the tag cannot be guaranteed beyond 12 months from the planting date.
