The Centre Region Senior Social Club is an active group of adults ages 55+ that has
been meeting for over 50 years! The club offers fun activities, exciting trips and interesting
programs. New participants are always welcome! Tuesdays from 10 AM - 1:30 PM FREE!

Share the joy of singing with weekly practices and performances on Wednesdays at

No experience or partners needed! Join the FUN in the Center's dance room on

“The Pleasure of Oil Painting Outdoors" Program # 53501
Thursdays, 1:00 - 4:00 PM, May 1 - June 19, 2008, 8 sessions
(fee does not include supplies). For intermediate-level students who want to paint outdoors. This class offers instruction in the use of oil paints that are water-soluble (for easier cleanup & no turpentine smell). Spring Book Discussion Group Program #52701
Calling all readers! Join Linda Lorich, Librarian from Schlow Centre Region Library, once
a month for this informational and entertaining discussion. Book titles will be varied from novels
to biographies and much more! The group meets Wednesdays, April 9, May 7 & June 4; 12:30

Card Games, Board Games & Mah Jongg
Join us at the Senior Center for a variety of social games such as pinochle, canasta, scrabble
& mah jongg. Weekdays, 10 AM. No partners needed. FREE!
Duplicate Bridge
No partners required, but please call the Senior Center in advance to reserve a seat.
Mondays & Thursdays at 9 AM. Free!
PC Learning Lab
Take advantage of the Center's one-on-one sessions, offering instruction in computer
basics and working towards levels of greater proficiency. Weekday instruction is offered by
appointment only at a fee of $3 per hour. Our thanks to D&E Communications for providing
high-speed Internet service to the Senior Center.

Gentle Yoga
Learn a progressive series of exercises that improve posture, ease arthritic pain,
increase flexibility, and promote a sense of well-being. Instructor: Barbara Lindenbaum

Progressive Resistance Weight Training
Exercise using hand-held weights, leg weights, & therapeutic exercise bands (all equipment provided). Program is designed to increase muscle strength, bone density, and flexibility. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11AM - Noon Fee: $8R / $12N per session

Healthy Steps in Motion Exercise Program Program # 51363
This low impact exercise program will work on improving balance, flexibility, strength and reduce the risk of falling and can be done in a chair or standing. Participants will use hand-held weights and exercise bands, which will be provided. Mondays & Fridays, 10:15 - 11:15 AM. This on-going program is FREE!

Blood Pressure
Screening
Offered by Nittany Home Health Service, every 3rd Wednesday, 10:30-11:00 AM. FREE
Beginning Tai Chi (from the Arthritis Foundation)
This popular exercise is effective in promoting physical and mental well being. While
scientific studies have proven that Tai Chi increases flexibility, muscular strength & fitness, it may
also reduce joint pain and stiffness due to arthritis. This program is designed for individuals
with/without arthritis and is safe for people of all ages. Instructor: Leslie Roberts, certified instructor.

Advanced Tai Chi (from the Arthritis Foundation) Program #51354
For those who have completed the beginners series of Tai Chi (from the Arthritis
Foundation). This advanced 12 week series will review the basic level 1 movements and include the
reverse direction, an additional 9 movements. Participants will be introduced to qigong, a slow,
deep breathing exercise to develop an awareness of breath and energy in the body while
facilitating stress reduction. Instructor: Leslie Roberts, certified instructor.

Walking Adventures
Get to know the local parks and pleasant neighborhoods in and around the State College

Hiking Group
Avoid cabin fever while enjoying a moderate hike in the great outdoors. Various locations
in and around State College. Tuesdays at 10 AM (January - March) & 9 AM (April -
